Testimonials2011Portrait course and Venice Landscape Course
I am back from a one month class in
Giulio laboratory. Last year I discovered the work with smalti, hammer and hardi when I
attended the Klimt courses for 2 weeks.
This month spent (8 hours a day) working which made me feel more comfortable with the cutting, the interpretation
of colors.
After one week of being home, its impossible for
me to come back to my daily life. It would be too long to speak in
details about this experience. so I have decided to do something else, playing
with the letter of the name GIULIO MENOSSI!
Let's try!
G-great time
I-Italian language training
intensive.... always the same words coming back "troppo scuro, bruto,
toutta bene, prosseco"....
U-Udine under the sun
L-Luck to learn with Giulio
I-Interpretation of paintings with
smalti
O-Organized in the best way by the
best team!
M-Month working with the maestro
E-End of each day of work in vey
nice places (bars, restaurants....)
N-No more nippers for ever
O-Open to all you can expect
S-Sauvignon wine forever!
S-Students obstinate with
colors, flowers...., students coming from all over the world....students who
want to share more than mosaic!
I -will come back! The way will be
long to make progress but it is now my aim.... and I already miss you so much,
MENOSSI FAMILY.

Portrait Course
I always consider myself the beginner. Ellen and I attended
both the Tijuana and Udine workshops and I left both feeling that I learned a
lot, and worked while working at my own pace.
Giulio has an amazing ability to
always be available, but not to "hover". Through his corrections and
explanations I am learning how adamento and color define lines and space. In
the Menossi workshops I become part of a group; I am able to see how other students
work, how they use color, and how they solve problems.
Giulio Menossi is the
unusual combination of an ARTIST and a great teacher. In both workshops the
chemistry between students was very good, light, and supportive, I believe a
big part of the credit for this goes to Giulio and Cecilia.

Portrait Course
Italy...what
can I say.... just to utter the name makes me smile. Add to the
agenda, being in beautiful Udine Italy and a mosaic portrait class taught
by the magnificent Maestro Menossi and you have the ingredients for one of
the most wonderful combinations of a learning vacation you will ever
attend.
Maestro's instructions are spot on, even if it does mean
pulling out work you just spent an hour doing. If you can remember
that you are there for his instruction and guidance, not just to make a
mosaic like you would normally do in your own studio, you will learn more from
him in two weeks, then you could learn on your own in years!
The
classroom instruction, the time spent with Maestro and his lovely family,
and the beautiful area of Udine are not to be missed. I will take
another class again!

Venetian Techniques

Attending a Menossi Mosaic course is not just attending a Mosaic course,
but it is life changing experience.
Being trained by a Master of the
Ancient Art of Mosaic (whom is a Master in his own right), was both a
privilege, and an honor, to be taught by such a humble man.
We,
as students received more than what our money was worth. As a group we
laughed, made jokes, and it was just fun to experience 'The Real
Italian Family Life/Business'.
The Menossi Experience cannot truly be
captured in any other form or way, except in Udine, where the Italians
can showcase the 'Way Life' should be experienced.
I found and ticked off
one more item that was or should have been on 'My Bucket List': (1)
Attend a Menossi Course in Udine. I can only hope that one day I
too will have an impact on many people's lives as what he has had the honor of doing year after year.
I now look forward to the next Life
experience instead of just another Mosaic course, hosted by the Menossi
Family in collaboration with Pam Givens.

I am every fortunate that I have
attended 3 courses that Giulio offers in 2011. His master in mosaic and his
style of teaching, knowledge and enthusiasm give me confidence in working with
colors, andamenti, and cutting using hammer and hardi.
His studio was very well
plan and organized. I felt inspire every time I step in the work space that I
did not want to leave by the end of the day. During class, Giulio is always
around to guide, give suggestions and answer all possible questions about
mosaic that I can think of. The comfortable, friendly environment and his
patient and kind heart made me not hesitate to ask any questions – even
repeated one.
After the courses, I have learned
and develop so much from this experience than what I have expected. I have made
beautiful work piece fill with great memories which I admired. I have gained so
many good memories, so many techniques and meeting so many great people – so
overall, I called it ‘a dream come true’.
My wonderful memories with Giulio and
his family is the experience that I will never forget and I will
definitely return for more. I want to say thank you again to Giulio, Rosa,
Cecilia, Pam, Tanya, and my wonderful friends that has fulfill me so much
happiness with your kind friendship and I hope to see you all again soon.
I want to recommend this course to
anyone who has passion in mosaic and want to further their skills with the
master. This is one of the places you should come once in a life time.

Venetian Techniques

It was a wonderful experience to be
in such a friendly/family/Italian environment with the Menossi's. Giulio
was a 100% available around the course to answer all your questions and more.
He is aware of what everybody is doing and there to help if needed. 100%
committed to the course.
The technique though was much more difficult as
anticipated and we all know now we will never be the second G. Menossi, there
will not be any, not even close, but that does not mean we cannot develop our
own style from everything we have learned on the course.
We will all find our
own way after the course and bring home much more than the technique alone. A
week not be missed

Portrait Course

I throughly enjoyed my time in Udine at Giulio's Menossi's
portrait course.
The city of Udine is beautiful and scenic full
of wonderful restaurants and places to sit and enjoy lunch with friends.
Giulio and his mosaic course in portraiture was a challenge and a great
learning experience. Maestro Menossi is a great teacher and makes it
fun to learn how to cut smalti, select the best color and to shape your
pieces into something pleasing to the eye.
I came home feeling like I
learned so much and feeling like I had the time of my life doing it!!

I had already met Giulio for 2 or 3 days in 2008 and in 2009 and I appreciated his kindness and hospitality.
This 2 week class allowed me to benefit of his immense know-how and expertise and his incredible knowledge of colour.
I also would like to emphasize the kindness and the availability of his wife Rosa and his daughter Cecilia.
To me this was a beautiful experience and a great lesson in hospitality.
Thanks to all of them”

I was very pleased with the Venetian Techniques course in
May. It was all I had hoped for and more.
Giulio Menossi is a great instructor
as well as a master of his art. The course was inspiring and I have continued
to practice working with smalti, hammer and hardi and hope to take one of his
other courses in the future.
I have
nothing but praise for the course I took and I'm sure it would be delightful
extended to a two week term.

Venice Landscape

I
have recently spent two amazing weeks in Udine, Italy, attending the
Venetian Landscape course with Maestro Giulio Menossi.
I
walked into the course with very few expectations. It had been a
Christmas gift from my husband. He knew I had enjoyed making
mosaics with a group of international women in Switzerland, where we
live.
I am an American living overseas for the past twenty
years. It was the best gift I have ever received. I walked
away with a much broader spectrum of knowledge than I ever have had
before about this ancient art form.. I have learned how to use
the hammer and hardi. I have enriched my color sense beyond words.
Giulio
is a very patient teacher. He is so easy to learn from and has a
way of communicating individually with each of his students. He
gives each student the personal attention that they need. There
is a translator on hand everyday in class to help communicate his ideas
and instruction. He has a wonderful studio that is filled with
some of his artwork and all his tools. We had such a wide range
of materials to use. The colors were beyond anything that I had
seen or worked with before. We had the opportunity to order some
of the smalti in the vast ranges of hues and colors.
Pam
Givens had done a wonderful job organizing the course and seeing to
everyone's needs. She made herself available to all of us.
We had checked into the hotel about ten minutes before I received a
call to come down and have a welcome glass of Prosecco with her.
Giulio's
family embraced the group and made us feel a part of their
family. There were many opportunities to eat out with his family
and fellow students. It was always a large group of friends and
family and fantastic food of the region. The group of ten
students got along so beautifully. There was a lot of serious work
along with a log of fun. I feel like I have made some life long
friends.
The first weekend there, Giulio and his family
took us to Aquileia. This was one of the many highlights for
me. We looked at ancient mosaic ruins, from Roman times, that had
been dug up and some of it restored. It was one of the most
interesting history lessons. I found it all fascinating and
beautiful and I was there thousands of years later.
My husband
and our pet accompanied me on the trip. They were equally made to
feel a part of the family and had invitations to different events.
The
accommodations were great and the staff of the hotel were very attentive
to our needs. We actually went and told them each goodbye and
that we would see them again next year. We can hardly wait for
the courses next year. It has been a phenomenal experience that I will
never
forget.
